So, today decided to make a trip to see my grandpa, grandma, & Uncle Jack in their final resting places... I have been wanting to get to a cemetery and take a few photos because i find a beauty in all of it. Now this may sound strange me being "excited" to go to the cemetery but i haven't been to see my grandpa/grandma since my grandmas funeral 2 years ago & to my uncles when he passed almost 4 years ago.
My Grandpa & Grandma are located in the Houston National Cemetery (Veterans Memorial). Below i have photographed a bench in front of my grandma & grandpa's tombstone. If you also look closer at the bench photo you will see the tombstones lined up which i enjoy the spacing of them. I have also included their tombstone. My grandma is buried on top of my grandpa so they have put my grandma's name & info on the back of my grandpa's tombstone as to keep them closer together.
Below is a photo in which i enjoyed from the cemetery mentioned above. It was rather chilly at this point.. very windy as you can tell by the fountains but i enjoyed the colors.
Below is a walkway along with my uncle's bench/headstone. He is located in Memorial Oaks Cemetery... I am not as big a fan of the layout of graves but the surrounding scenery is great to look at.Below is one of my favorite things from my journey while visiting my Uncle.

Again, you may find it strange that i was excited but this is what makes life more interesting. Being in a cemetery for a brief moment i am sad but then take a look at the different tombstones & wording that people have chosen for their loved ones. It is one last chance for showing how VERY different we all are. What do you think when you think about cemeteries?

I think you've given them a very lovely, human feel with your pictures. They're beautiful.
I think you are an artist! You see beauty and poetry in everything and capture it with a camera! You are an inspiration!
I think graveyards are awesome! Since most people are nice people, then there are a lot of nice spirits around.
Your pictures are great! You did a good job with the composition in each.
I was expecting jail (title: Visitation) glad to see it was just visiting gramps, grams and uncle Jack! Looks like you and mom did well, luckily it was nice!

Great shots! National cemeteries have a lot of photo opps ...
That they do! Thanks!
I also fine graveyards/cemetries really interesting places...we have some very old ones next to some of the old churches here in the UK. It's fascinating to walk around and read the old headstones...
Perhaps it sounds wrong to say that I love cemetaries...but they have such a peaceful atmosphere, and they're visually beautiful and interesting to photograph. Naturally, it would be quite emotional if a loved one is buried there...but hopefully one would be given some peace of mind, and be able to appreciate the beauty anyways, just like you've been able to do!
I am glad that i am not the only one that feels this way! Thanks guys!
I totally get it!
I love visiting old cemetaries and absorbing the history, glad I'm not the only one = )
I love the old ones, they can be so peaceful, this is where I had breakfast one morning with some German tourists http://www.irelandinpicture.net/2009/06/monasterboice-co-louth.html
